Get The Katy Perry Lush Lash Look Without False Lashes

On December 1, 2010 by Violet

Yes! You can get the Katy Perry long lush lash look without wearing false eyelashes. After you try this make-my-real-lashes-look-fake technique you will never leave the house again without pin-up Katy Perry lashes. If you are a fake eyelash applying pro you can add false eyelashes on top of this make-my-real-lashes-look-fake technique. Do not worry if the last time you tried falsies you ended up with one eye glued shut, no fake eyelashes are needed.

Follow these six steps to get the false eyelash look with your real lashes!

1. Paint Your Eyes
Make sure you start with clean lashes. I prefer to apply all of my eye makeup before applying mascara. Without mascara I can line my upper lid more perfectly and blend eye shadows with ease. Try this technique if you normally apply mascara first. You might like it.

2. Supply and Demand
To get a thick lash look without clumps you must have all you supplies ready. You will need two different mascaras, a lash comb, and a few Q-tips. Choose waterproof or washable mascara, just be sure both mascaras are the same type. First, wet one or two Q-tips with water or moisten them with oil-free moisturizer. This makes quick touch-ups a snap. Use a light touch and avoid pulling the delicate skin around your eye. Never use a dry Q-tip in the eye area.

3. Lift and Separate
Next, comb through your upper and lower lashes with your lash comb. A lash comb with teeth rather than bristles works best. The e.l.f. Essentials Brow Comb + Brush is the best of both worlds complete with a brush and comb in a single tool for only one dollar.

4. Discover Loads of Lashes
The first mascara I use is Maybelline Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof Mascara in Very Black. This affordable drugstore mascara is under seven dollars and comes with a tiny applicator brush. This mini-brush makes it easy to cover every lash - from corner to corner, root to tip on the top and bottom. Covering every lash is what is takes to get the Katy Perry Fake Lash look. Maybelline Lash Discovery is the best mascara I have found to achieve fake lash results. Perfectly lengthens and defines lashes without clumps. It is also contact lens safe and hypoallergenic.

For the best results, apply mascara to your outer lashes first making your way to your to inner lashes. Sweeping the mini-brush slowly rotating the brush clockwise from root to tip. Quickly apply three coats to top lashes and two to bottom lashes. Do not let mascara dry between coats. Run through lashes with lash comb. Use wet Q-tips to remove any mistakes.

5. Thicker Than Falsies
Diorshow Waterproof Mascara is the second mascara I recommend. This is powerful thickening mascara with a huge brush. To avoid clumping comb through lashes in between coats. Apply about three more coats. Use the same sweeping strokes rotating the brush clockwise as you move from root to tip. For the fake lashes cat eye look concentrate more Diorshow on lashes from the middle to the outer corner. Do not forget to coat your bottom lashes. Again, clean up goofs with wet Q-tips.

6. The Real Fake Lash Look

Now, you have the look of false lashes without wearing them. The maxi Diorshow brush will curl your lashes as you apply it. If you find you want more curl in your lashes use a lash curler next time on clean bare lashes. I recommend the tiny "Curl It" Eyelash Curler by Sephora. This unique compact design is easy to use, pinch-free, and small enough to take a long.
